Power

Power is the ability to accomplish tasks or goals through action and intention. There are different sources and types of power, but they all approximate to the same thing, that aforementioned ability to get things done. Some forms of power allow an individual to accomplish on their own. Other forms allow an individual to accomplish through the efforts of other people.

Power has numerous qualities and nuances. Different types of power also share many characteristics. It is in recognizing these distinctions, however minute, that we gain power as individuals. The power that we gain as an individual is different than the power we deal with on a daily basis.

Most of the power we do face regularly is structural. Power conferred by position, rank, title. A type of power protected by society through rule and custom. All forms of power can be challenged, but the societally blessed forms seem to deteriorate quickest when questioned.

In a sense navigating power effectively is a power of its own. It is the previously mentioned individual power, a power gained through practice and perseverance. In my experience power derived through competence and confidence can often overcome the structures of power that we daily face. In this section of the Codex Corvus we will explore how read the power structures you face and navigate them confidently nd successfully.
